Find out how Info For Me can help you
All young carers have the right to help and support, including a right to a break and a Young Carer Statement. It’s also important that health and social care services offer support to the person you’re looking after, which will help you in your role.
No matter your caring duties every young carer has the right to a Young Carer Statement. If you want one, ask your local young carers service to see who is responsible in your area.
Your statement will be about your needs, circumstances, your goals and your caring role. This statement also says what additional support is available to you. This may be through your council or other services.
The statement makes sure:
If your council or school identifies you as a young carer, they may ask you if you would like a young carer statement. You have the right to refuse this if you decide you don’t want one.
