Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001

The main aim of the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 is to improve regulation and in turn standards of social care services.

The Act means that people working in social services have to adhere to established rules and codes of practice. Failing to comply with the Act and associated regulations means they can be de-registered. That means they will no longer be able to provide social care services.
