What's a future plan?
Future or anticipatory planning means making longer-term plans for a cared-for individual for when you can no longer provide care because of:
- illness
- old age
- a change in circumstances
- death
Future plans are more in-depth than emergency plans. The people involved in creating the plan are:
- the carer
- the cared-for person
- relevant family members, friends and professionals
Your wishes and preferences and those of the person you care for should be taken into account. It's a process which should be developed over time.
