Energy assistance

Energy assistance

You might need energy assistance if you find it hard paying your fuel bills or keeping an affordably warm home.

Almost everyone can get some form of help from Home Energy Scotland. This is a free service from the Scottish Government that gives advice on saving energy, carbon and money.

Call Home Energy Scotland free on 0808 808 2282, or text WARM to 60163 for a call back. It offers:

  • practical energy-saving advice
  • a home energy check – you can do this over the phone or an advisor can visit you at home
  • guidance on financial support, including Warmer Homes Scotland, benefits, incentives and discounted energy rates
  • referrals to the Warm Home Discount scheme, which could get you a discount on your electricity bill

Find out if you’re eligible for support under the Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland (HEEPS). This could help reduce your bills and make your house warmer by funding energy efficiency measures like a new boiler, draught proofing, insulation and heating controls.
