Young carers and young adult carers

Caring for yourself while being a young carer

It can feel like a lot of responsibility caring for someone. This can make it difficult to find time for yourself to do things like:

  • schoolwork
  • seeing friends
  • have hobbies

Ask for help if you are finding things difficult. There is support for young carers.

It can be hard to ask for help, but it’s important you do if your caring role makes you:

  • feel sad or worried
  • miss school or college
  • stop spending time with your friends
  • stop getting or keeping a job
