Everyone should get safe high quality social care support.
If you have concerns about your social care support you should try to speak to the manager first. This gives them the chance to put things right.
If your concern is not resolved by speaking to the manager, you can raise a complaint. Check with your council to find out how to raise a complaint.
For social care support provided by your council or health and social care partnerships, your complaint should be resolved within 5 days.
If you’re unhappy with the first stage of your complaint, you can ask for it to be investigated further. They then have 20 days to respond to your complaint. This time can be extended with good reason. You’ll be told if an extension is needed.
If you’re unhappy with the outcome of your complaint you can ask this to be investigated by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.
You can also ask the Care Inspectorate if they will investigate the complaint. You do not have to have made a complaint to the council before complaining to the Care Inspectorate.
The Care Inspectorate cannot investigate complaints relating to social work assessments.
Every care service will have a complaints process. You should ask your social care service for this. Your social care service must reply to your complaint within 20 days.
